Sports Medicine
The goal of the Sports Medicine program is to prepare students for placement in a post-secondary institution for advanced studies in the health sciences. Course topics include medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, sports nutrition and hydration, and concussion management. Students will become proficient in the use of theraputic modalities, vital signs assessments, injury assessment, diagnosis and management, and injury rehabilitation through theraputic exercise. Career pathways include physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, occupational therapist, athletic trainer, exercise physiologist, sports psychologist, nurse, medical assistant, and rehabilitation aide.
Skills Learned:
Students will learn vital signs assessment, injury prevention and evaluation techniques, taping and bracing techniques, basic rehab and exercise protocols, use of theraputic modalities, emergency response procedures, proper body mechanics, and patient documentation.

Related occupations include Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapist, PT Assistant, Occupational Therapist, OT Assistant, Physicians Assistant, Sports Psychologist, Personal Trainer, Massage Therapist.

Post-Secondary Opportunities:
Articulated credits can be earned toward a College Degree at local universities and institutions.
