Construction Trades

Students will be instructed in a variety of the skills in construction areas including carpentry, electricity, masonry, and plumbing. This program prepares students to apply learned skills in the construction installation of buildings and other structures to include interior and exterior finishing. Various materials used in the building and installation of structures will be utilized throughout the course. Student learning will include cost estimating and blueprint reading, use and maintenance of power and hand tools, general safety and building code requirements.

Skills Learned:

Some of the skills a student will be able to perform are framing, exterior and interior coverings, rough in and the installation of plumbing fixtures, install drywall and finish painting, install and repair electrical circuits, tile installation, construct various brick and block walls, layout a building and foundation.

Related Occupations and Earnings:

Related occupations include building supervisor, maintenance person, carpenter, roofer, plumber, tile setter, drywall installer and finisher, and electrician. Earnings range between $16-$24/hour.

Post-Secondary Opportunities:

Articulated credits can be earned toward additional post secondary institutions.
