The Cosmetology Program at Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center is designed to prepare each student for a career as a licensed Cosmetologist upon graduation. The students will be provided the opportunity to practice their skills in a simulated salon environment. Students will work with mannequins, fellow students and visiting patrons. The Cosmetology Program is a 3-year course which involves a minimum of 1250 hours of competency based instruction. The Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology mandates 1250 hours of training to register for Professional State Licensure so excellent attendance is very important in this program.Grading Procedures:
33.3% theory, 33.3% practical skills and 33.3% daily grade
Art Courses, Typing Courses, Algebra I & II, Geometry, College Prep English I-IV
*Industry & Skills Certifications:
Cosmetology State Board Exams, Licensed Nail Technician
Active Listening, Controlled Precision, Visualization, Creativity, Standing Dexterity
Students are required to pay for the following items; the students’ uniform, shoes, cosmetology kit, and state board fee.
