PlumbingCourse Description The course starts out teaching the students about orientation, safety, tool identification, power and hand tool use, ritting identification, and installation of the water and drain systems on each individual fixture. In the second year, the student will have the opportunity to learn designing and installing the drainage waste and vent systems, and deisgn/install the water supply systems. Also included in the second year is drawings and blueprint reading, fuel gas codes, plumbing codes, and basic electrical skills needed for the trade. Third-year students will have the opportunity to learn servicing plumbing code interpretation, venting, roof and storm drainage, deep well systems, septic tanks, fire systems, septic tanks, fire systems, solar heating, and swimming pool systems. Fourth-year students who maintain a B average and who have completed all their math credits will have an opportunity to go on co-op which is an on the job training program. This allows the student to get graded by the workplace while they are making money. Students who are not taking advantage of co-op will learn business math, sizing plumbing systems, mobile home plumbing, and workplace skills. They will present a portfolio of work completed and post a resume on careerlink. |
